Dreamland Roller Rink

dreamlandroller

Our original Brooklyn-born themed dress-up roller Our original Brooklyn-born themed dress-up roller disco in Prospect Park has been replaced. By someone hired to copy our concept — while Dreamland Roller Disco was unfairly pushed out.

Why?

Because we spoke the truth about negligence, safety hazards, and legal violations at this taxpayer-funded rink…

And refused to accept a 50% pay cut from what we’d been paid for years.

Dreamland created our original themed roller skate programming in 2007—long before most skaters here were even on wheels. We created the concept, the love, the magic. And now, after standing up against negligence, safety hazards, and corruption, we’ve been replaced by a copy of our own creation—funded by the very system we called out.

This isn’t just about roller disco.

It’s about what happens when institutions silence local voices and reward those who step over them for profit.

Stand with us.

We built this culture together. We’re not letting it be stolen.
This is taxpayer-owned land. This is a City-funded This is taxpayer-owned land. This is a City-funded rink.
This is a space that was built — and made magical — by Dreamland and the local skate community.

So why is Dreamland Roller Disco, the most successful, community-driven, roller-skating program at the LeFrak Center, still being shut out?

We’ve asked. We’ve emailed. We’ve submitted proposals. We’ve shown the numbers. We’ve rallied nearly 1,500 petition signatures. You guys have sent @cmshahanahanif thousands of tags, reposts, stories, emails and calls.

Still, nothing. No mediation with Prospect Park Alliance. No attempt to making this right.

It’s hard not to see this for what it is: retaliation for speaking out about safety, equity, and public accountability.

Meanwhile, Council Member Hanif’s office — which approved a significant amount of new discretionary funding for this very space — has yet to take a public stand or demand answers from PPA.

🛑 This is not just about roller skating.
🛑 This is about public land, public trust, and whether local small businesses and cultural programs have a place in NYC’s future.

We’re not backing down. We’ve done everything right — and we’re still here, still fighting.

📣 Ask: Why are you funding PPA without accountability? With our tax dollars. Why are you silent on Dreamland?
Dreamland isn’t just a roller disco party—it’s a whole world we’ve built together. A space where you can let go, be yourself, and feel seen.

To someone who’s never actually experienced it—who’s never skated our dance floor, laughed with strangers, or cried happy tears under the disco lights—it might just look like a fun night out. But to our community? It’s so much more than that.

Dreamland is joy. It’s resilience. It’s family. It’s where people from all walks of life—every age, every race, every gender, every body—come together and create magic. It’s diverse, it’s inclusive, and it’s unlike anything else in NYC.

We’ve watched people heal here. We’ve watched them grow, connect, come out of their shells, and find belonging. You don’t just attend Dreamland—you become part of it.

Ekstein Development has never been. The Prospect Park Alliance walked through once—but never skated. They don’t know what this really means to the community. And now they’re trying to replace us like it’s just another event. But you can’t just swap out this kind of energy. You can’t replicate soul.

Dreamland was built with love, soul, glitter, and community. You can’t just recreate that with a cheaper, more complacent option.

We’re not just fighting for a party.
We’re fighting for our culture. Our safe space. Our joy.
Dreamland is home—and we’re not letting it go without a fight.

Prospect Park called me “untenable” for tellin Prospect Park called me “untenable” for telling the truth. This week, I met with @cmshahanahanif office—with emails, with proof, with a full heart.

What happened to Dreamland wasn’t a standard negotiation. It was retaliation.
Because I refused to be silent.
Because I chose transparency to our community over silent compliance.

This rink lives on public land.
Funded by public dollars.
It was never meant to serve corporate interests. It was built for us—the community, the taxpayers, the joy-makers.

In that meeting, I cried—not out of rage, but from 11 years of love, poured into a space we were shut out of.

I asked for mediation.
They agreed to try.
It’s a start—but we need more than promises.
We need accountability.

To anyone who’s ever been labeled “untenable” for standing in their truth—this is for you.
You are not the problem.
You are the spark.
Stand with Dreamland and demand justice.

🛼✨ The Dreamland revival begins..✨🛼 Yest 🛼✨ The Dreamland revival begins..✨🛼 Yesterday I took a powerful first step: I visited a possible home for our Dreamland Roller Rink.

We were unfairly (and possible illegally) pushed out of our home in Prospect Park—not because we failed, but because we refused to be silent. Because we stood for your safety, truth, joy, and justice for the community.

But that is not the end of our story.

Dreamland was born from a childhood dream—a place where misfits could shine, where skating was sanctuary, and joy was rebellion. And now, it’s time to take that dream further.

This is just the beginning. We’re building something lasting. Something free from dirty politics, corporate greed, and corrupt gatekeepers.

A space powered by love, designed by artists, and owned by us.

💫 Dreamland is rising- A community-powered investment campaign is coming soon.

Follow along. Be part of the movement. Let’s reclaim the dream—together.

For 11 years, Dreamland Roller Disco brought joy, For 11 years, Dreamland Roller Disco brought joy, inclusivity, and community to the LeFrak Center in Prospect Park — on public land, at a rink funded by your taxpayer dollars.

Now, despite overwhelming community support, we’ve been shut out. No response from Prospect Park Alliance. No response from Council Member Hanif. No answers from Ekstein Development.

I’ve raised serious concerns. I’ve documented everything. And when I spoke out, I was threatened — told my honesty might “jeopardize” my return. That’s retaliation, and it’s illegal.

This fight isn’t just about Dreamland anymore — it’s about free speech, fairness, and the kind of city we want to live in.

✨ Dreamland wasn’t born from silence—it was ✨ Dreamland wasn’t born from silence—it was born from truth. ✨ In 2007, I lost my Coney Island shop because I refused to stay quiet. I stood up to developers trying to erase the spirit of Coney Island—and out of that fight, Dreamland Roller Disco was born.

💔 It was never just a party. It was always a protest in sequins. A sanctuary made with love. A rejection of the corporate powers trying to destroy our City.

Now, I’m being told to stay quiet again. And punished because I stood up for our community.

🛼 Dreamland is a Brooklyn legacy. A love letter to joy.
And it’s worth fighting for.

They say I’m “spreading misinformation.” So They say I’m “spreading misinformation.”
So here it is—the truth. Backed by documentation. Told with love, transparency and devotion to you, our community.

🛼 For 11 years, Dreamland brought joy, unity, and magic to Prospect Park. Now we’re being replaced—offered half the pay, shut out of decisions, and threatened to stay silent.

Why is a beloved community program being erased by a private developer? Why is Prospect Park supporting that? Why is City Hall silent?

This isn’t just about Dreamland.
It’s about the soul of our city, and who public spaces are really for.

💔 They want to divide the skate community. ✨ 💔 They want to divide the skate community.
✨ We say: Stand together.

This is a call to the skate community—DJs, promoters, artists, skaters, and every soul who’s danced with us under the stars. What’s happening at Prospect Park isn’t just about Dreamland. It’s about the future of public spaces, the value of joy, and the right for grassroots artists to thrive in the city we love.

After 11 years of building a sanctuary of belonging and freedom, we’re being told we’re replaceable for a cheaper option. But community isn’t a commodity. And we are not disposable.

Prospect Park confirmed on News 12 that they’re replacing us—actively finalizing their schedule with other promoters. They’re trying to divide us. To pit us against one another.

So I’m calling on the skate community—stand with us.

Stand for fair treatment. Stand for the soul of public spaces. Stand for the joy we’ve created together.

We built Dreamland with heart and soul. And the only way to protect it is to stand united.

🛼 The LeFrak Center belongs to the people who made it magic. Let’s stand together and make sure it serves the taxpayers and the skate community as it rightfully should.
